Independence Day Speech (in 500 words)
Happy good morning and Independence Day,
Respected Principal, respected teachers, parents and my dear companions.
Today, we are celebrating India’s 78th Independence Day with pride. This is the day when our country was freed from the slavery of the British, and we became an independent nation. The purpose of remembering this day is not just to celebrate the celebration, but to pay tribute to those brave fighters who gave us this invaluable freedom by sacrificing their lives.
India’s independence was won after a long and tough fight. Mahatma Gandhiji united the people by adopting the path of truth and non-violence. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose gave the slogan “You give me blood, I will give you freedom”. Youth like Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev kissed the gallows for the country.
Today, 78 years later, our country is progressing in many regions. We are a nuclear power-rich nation. Our scientists, soldiers, players and youth are illuminating the name of India in the world. Schemes like Chandrayaan and Digital India are leading us to modernity.
But along with independence, we should not forget our responsibilities either. Problems like social evils, casteism, corruption, illiteracy and pollution are still in front of us. We have to work against them together.
We must become responsible citizens, protect the property of the country and keep the national interest paramount. Only then will the dream of our freedom fighters come true.
Let us take a pledge on this Independence Day that we will make India a world guru by becoming a dedicated, honest and patriotic citizen.
Jai Hind! Victory to India!
Independence Day Speech (800 words)
Good morning,
Respected Principal, respected teachers, my parents and dear companions,
Happy 78th Independence Day to all of you.
Today is a proud day for every Indian. On 15 August 1947, our country was freed from the slavery of 200 years of the British. This day reminds us of millions of patriots who sacrificed their best to make India independent.
The journey of independence of India was not easy. Mahatma Gandhi’s Satyagraha movement, Dandi Yatra, Non -Non-Cooperation and Quit India Movement shook the foundation of British rule. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose led the Armed Revolution by creating the Azad Hind Fauj. Youth like Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, and Batukeshwar Dutt raised enthusiasm and awareness among the people with their courage and sacrifice.
Today, we are breathing in independent India, and this has been possible only because of those martyrs. We should understand the value of this freedom. This is not just a day of celebration, but this is the occasion of introspection, to perform their duties towards the nation.
After achieving independence, India has set several dimensions of development. India has created a global identity in areas like science, technology, agriculture, education, defence and medicine. Our scientists have buried the flag in space. Schemes like Chandrayaan, the success of ISRO, Digital India, and Make in India are steps towards -self-reliant India.
But, have we become a true independent country just with these achievements?
The country is still struggling with many problems – corruption, unemployment, environmental crisis, inequality in education, and women’s safety are in front of us.
Therefore, we have to understand that freedom not only gives rights, it also assigns responsibility. We have to perform our duties seriously, such as working honestly, giving importance to education, respecting others, following cleanliness and maintaining the unity and integrity of the country.
It is also the duty of all of us students to put our minds to studies, adopt good values and contribute to making the future of the country bright.
Patriotism is not only waving a flag or singing patriotic songs, but doing something good for the country every day is true patriotism.
- Come, let us all take a pledge together –
- We will rise above caste, religion and language and strengthen the unity of India.
- Will perform your duties.
- It will protect the environment.
- Will participate in the Swachh Bharat Mission. And most importantly, we will respect the constitution of our country.
Come, take a pledge on this Independence Day that we will create a developed, strong and prosperous nation by freeing our country from corruption, violence and inequality.
Long live Mother India! Vande Mataram! Jai Hind!
